Ho-ho!

I think this year needs one last post.
First, here are 2 images from this years Secret Santa on digitalartforum.
The upper one is done by me for Chinasky / Holger Kirste who did some cool fan artworks for "the Song of Fire and Ice" , also known as "Game of Thrones". I illustrated a scene from the first book which I thought was one of the more important scenes and also because it had this christmas feeling to it... but with more blood and dead animals... erm..

In return a received the following image which was made by digitaldecoy/ Daniel Lieske , showing my steampunk Blackbeard as Santa. A great surprise and present.
By the way- you better go check out the first chapter of Daniel's brand new online graphic novel on daniellieske.blogspot.com . There's some magic going on there.

So have some nice holidays and a happy new year, guys!
2011 will be very interesting, so stay tuned.

François

This one's for the weekly challenge on digitalartforum.de

Subject is to paint a member for a whaler crew. Florian Biege is the initiator and provides the background. The character François is done by me- he's responsible for filleting the whales.

Jack-o-Lantern

I thought it would be fun to try a jack-o-lantern once. So I went for it today and am quite happy with the result.
I also made a small step by step for the lantern and the soup a made out of his brain. :)

Birthday Present

I made another little present for my nephew Elias, who yesterday had his first birthday.
It's an measuring block ( I hope this makes sense ) where his parents can mark every step of his growth.

I bought the gecko at an art supply store, colored it and wrapped it in multicolor yarn. Took me quite a while to accomplish that... ^^

Me at GamesCom 2010

Just wanted to post this picture of me at gamescom 2010 in cologne. I was pretty surprised when I came into this hall and saw that one of my recent job artworks was showcased there. :]

A present for my nephew

Today my nephew Elias ( 11 months young ) was christened. For this event I wanted to do something special and memorable. So I spent the last few days for these 5 little 3D artworks which together form the letters E L i A S. A bit tricky to recognize if you don't know, but I don't mind.
Main thing is that some day he hopefully will enjoy them. : )

Credit goes to Vicky for helping me with the frames!

And an overview with no specific order.

Abstract Study

My daily studies are kinda evolving into color and abstract form studies... I like it though. :)

It's not like I didn't try, but the study I wanted to include just destroyed this abstract background, so I just removed it and left it as it was.

Fruit

I recently finished a small animation which was lurking on my hdd for some weeks.

Daily Study

A very quick one I couldn't finish now. Because the light wouldn't be the same later today I won't finish it, so I post it as crappy as it is.

Daily Study

Today I decided to do a quick study everyday for... ever... or as long as it takes.
At least I did one this evening. It took about 1 hour then the daylight was almost gone.

My tv and some furniture.

Overpaint

Today I made this little overpaint of my own creature for a thread on Digitalartforum.de.
I remember how I was in dispair giving this creature a slimey and half translucent skin back then in 2007. It was very satisfying to achieve today where I failed 3 years ago.

Tribute to Syd Mead

I participated in the NVart contest "ACCELERATE
Images of future transport : In the style of Syd Mead"
on CGSociety.

I wouldn't have guessed how hard it would be to do such paintings like Syd Mead does...
Great artist. I learned a lot just by studying his awesome art.

Night of the Living Geek

"With the golden age of computer people started to disappear. Only a few in the beginning but increasingly more and more. Nobody knew what happend to them.
But now they are back!
Risen from their dark basements they came to format all. It's the night of the living geek."
A shocking horror-comedy you would die for to watch.

Directed & Produced by Jakob Eirich

Starring Gerry Kasparow, William Gates & Albert Onestone.

Another big challenge on CgSociety.org came to an end a few days ago and I couldn't resist to participate. The theme was "B-Movie" and again many high class artists joined in and brought us a very broad range of ideas and style. I reckon the results will be announced end of april after the deadline of the video part of the challenge. I'm very curious about that, but the fun part for me is over anyways. :)

BumBot

Hi there!
I created this blog to gather all my stuff in one place, no matter what medium or how small or big and stuff I maybe don't show in my online portfolio.

To start off here is a speedpaint I did yesterday just for fun. It's clearly inspired by Goro Fujita's happy bots, but I tried to give a twist. It's the secound one in my little Bumbot-series.

Enjoy your stay! :)
